Three kittens. One badger. An almost blind bat and a fox. A secret that will tear them apart.

Rongyao, Xiaohu, and Sasha were pulled from a river as newborns by a badger who raised them as his own. They grew up learning the way of the forest and believing their past was a mystery best left unsolved.

They were wrong.

When the tyrant- The Shadow-captures Xiaohu  the young Protectors vow revenge. But their dying mother's confession changes everything.

Now, hunted by wolves and haunted by truths they never asked for, the Protectors must decide who they really are-and whether some monsters deserve a second chance.
