This can’t be right! The navigational device leads Erin down an empty brick road, past a stop sign defiled with graffiti. Erin removes her designer sunglasses to look around at these unkempt surroundings. A vacant gas station. A ‘For Lease’ sign placed on an empty storefront. A dried-up manmade lake.
The building across the street has a neon sign that saysGot to Know Tutoring, but the only letters lit up areGO NOW, as some sort of warning sign directed right at Erin. She pulls into the parking lot of a nearly empty business park, its exterior in complete disarray. She first notices an overflowing dumpster and a flea-ridden stray cat. Is there no Office Manager to take care of this?
Erin walks straight ahead but occasionally looks down to make sure she doesn’t step in anything. She opens the front door easily.Wait! Erin doesn’t need to scan her badge to enter the building! There is no Security at the front desk! This is unacceptable!
Erin is afraid of going any further and worries about what she might find inside. She is embarrassed that the company name,Garrison Board Games, Inc., is listed in small print by the door.
