Chapter One

IN THE BEGINNING, GOD
Patricia King

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth –Genesis 1:1

In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God,

and the Word was God.

He was in the beginning with God.

All things were made through Him,

and without Him

nothing was made that was made.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

John 1:1-4

What a mess the world is in—conflict and crisis are everywhere! Political upheavals, racial tensions, economic uncertainties, corruption, lawlessness, wars and rumors of wars, natural disasters, and opposition to biblical values, morals, and faith are just a few of the tense issues of this hour. These types of curses and consequences come when we live contrary to God’s ways and plans, but blessings come when we realign with Him. If we submit to God’s divine order in this season, we can overcome every hindrance, obstacle, and curse. This current season can potentially be the finest hour for the church as we arise and shine, bringing light into the darkness. Kings and nations can come to the brightness of our rising, and a billion-soul harvest can be reaped for the glory and honor of the Lord. What a victory!

One of the key elements to experiencing this overcoming victory is the turning of the hearts of the generations back to each other: fathers to children and children to fathers.

The prophetic word of the Lord in Malachi 4:5-6, calling generations to run together, is a very clear emphasis in this hour. However, in society today, it is not uncommon to hear of natural fathers and mothers forsaking their children—even taking their lives in the womb before they ever have a chance to live out a day of their destiny. The foster care system is overloaded with neglected, abused, and abandoned children, and more families are needed to adopt children who have been signed into the system, often at birth.

Children are often resistant to their parents and purpose to make their own choices regarding matters such as sexual and gender preferences and identity. In the United States, a minor may petition the court seeking to divorce his parents.

Similar core issues of conflict, neglect, abuse, and abandonment are also found in the church when observing spiritual parents and children. We are broken. We need help.

The Lord spoke the solution to breaking this curse in Malachi as He called the hearts of the fathers—parents—to turn to the children, and then the children to the parents. When the parents turn their hearts, then the children will follow. This prophetic call is for both natural and spiritual parents and children. However, in this book, we will focus on the spiritual. In an hour where there is a clear transition of eras and the passing of the baton from one generation to another, this prophetic call is even more critical and relevant.

Our Expectation

We all experience an internal expectation in our soul to be fathered and mothered. Most individuals also have a natural desire to give birth to children and raise them. Even though these longings are natural and God-given, it is important that we first, and above all else, acknowledge God Himself in all things. That is why the first commandment in the Old Testament was “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3). In the New Testament, Jesus taught that the following commandment was the g
