I got married at the ripe age of twenty-six years old. I am quite confident that I didn’t get married a day too soon or a day too late. It was the right timefor me. “For me” is a phrase we should embrace a little more, and I don’t mean that in a self-consumed, narcissistic sort of way. I mean it in a “I know myself and I’m not ready” or “I’m good right now; it can wait” sort of way. Make sense? We live in an age of constant comparison. At our fingertips, we see the world through a screen and fantasize about all the things we’re missing out on in the current moment. We see everyone’s highlights and die a little inside because someone is further along in life or “happier” than we are, from what we can see. I believe social media is this generation’s greatest curse and greatest blessing wrapped in one. Carey Nieuwhof once said, “Social media makes for a great servant but a terrible master.”3 Ain’t that the truth! It takes us further than we could dream but can cut us deeper than we wish.
