The narratives on these topics are diametrically opposite and polarizing on both side of the debate. While this debate has many layers from a government regulatory side to social impact to the practicality of everyday use of crypto currencies in developing markets, it is safe to assume that crypto currencies or utility tokens are more than a global phenomenon and are now becoming a working framework for optional modes of business.

This book demystifies what crypto currency is, how it is used, and what it means to the consumer, investor, and the future of our global currency marketplace. By providing the historical backdrop to the market, authors Sarah Swammy, Richard Thompson, and Marvin Loh provide a clear definition of what crypto-currencies actually are, how they are being used and by whom, and the unique reasons why they have gone from back street to Main Street almost overnight. The book will also delve into the government's role in regulating this commerce medium. Lastly, the authors will look at the current global monetary policy and discuss if this type of currency phenomena was a direct result while also examining the potential risk and rewards for investors and the economy.

Sarah Swammy is a Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the Portfolio Solutions businesses in both State Street Global Markets, LLC, a registered broker dealer subsidiary of State Street Bank and Trust and in State Street Bank and Trust.  Sarah joined State Street from BNY Mellon where she held several leadership positions.  She has held compliance positions at Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc., CSFB, and Barclays Capital, Inc.

Richard Thompson has more than 25 years of experience directing the development of world-class institutional financial systems and pioneering the next generation of 'cloud' technology. Helping to launch two ICO's, fx, fxoptions, multiple fixed income, and a number of derivatives platforms, Richard is widely acknowledged as one of the foremost quantitative IT architects in the financial industry.

Mar in Loh has 30 years of experience in the financial service industry where he has been an analyst at various firms covering a multitude of asset classes.  At present, he follows global macro themes for BNY Mellon, where he evaluates asset valuations by looking for intersections within the FX, fixed income and equity markets.
