Chapter one

 

There is a ‘silent killer’ lurking among us that havebeen around for many years. Believe it or not, we have control over this thing and can eliminate it from our community. We have the knowledge and skills to do it, but our inability to talk with each other is, preventing us from doing away with this deadly monster.

Up to this point, we have basically kept a blind eye and have refused to deal with this, but that will soon change. This killer I speak of does not deal in death and does not literally ‘kill’, but over time it does destroy the man that has yet to develop in some ofour sons.

I’m not an authority on parenting, so I don’t want you to get the impression that me, or this book, is criticizing your parenting skills, because I’m not. What I’m going to do is, talk to you about some of the things I’ve noticed in our young sons.

As we all should have learned, parenting is not a one size fits all type of subject to discuss. It’s not something you will routinely learn, either. We can’t brush it under the carpet after a lesson or two, like most things the parents today do.

Parenting ismore than most people realize. Only a few parents realize that it’s an acquired skill that many of us do not ever,entirely get. More importantly, it is the little things that we seem to forget about parenting, that makes it so difficult to master.
