This is a book about how Christians can resist and overcome the 'enemy within.' It is a well-drawn argument, relying heavily on scripture to support its thesis and supporting points.

The TriuneBeing

Spirit, body and The LivingSoul

GOD created humans in His image in a distinct and perfect way. Thus, human traits reveal some degree of God’s personality. Man is a spiritual, living being with will, emotions, conscience, andintellect.

God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness. (Genesis 1:26)

The Bible tells us of the triune nature of God: God the Father, God the Son (Word), and God the Holy Spirit, as scriptures say in Matthew 28:19. He made man in His own image, Spirit (breath), Soul, and Body. Almighty God formed man out of dust from the earth. He breathed life into man’s lifeless body, and man became a living soul unto His glory (Genesis 2:7). He blessed all creation when He finished and said it was very good (Genesis 1:31).

The soul is the innermost part of a human being, an individual person, or the inward man. It differs from the spirit and the body (Hebrews 4:12). A complete man comprises the soul, spirit, and body; all of these are distinctly different. The soul, spirit, and body play different coordinating roles and they serve each other. The soul lives on while the body perishes afterdeath.

However, the sovereignty of God’s divine nature, being Omnipotent, Omniscient, Self–existent, Immutable, and Eternal, makes human beings different from Him.

God created man to be Holy like Him. The breath of God, His Holy Spirit, empowers us to live eternally and to obey Him. Human beings’ initial perfect traits were corrupted by sin. Let us review the human entities in thefollowing.

The HumanBody

The human body is man’s outward frame (tent) and God’s provision for his being (2 Corinthians 5:1). It enables existence in the physical realm. The human body was made pure and undefiled, but due to the Fall, the body was transmuted, becoming the sinful flesh. The mortal body became sinful in nature used to commit sin (Romans 7:18; Galatia
