These quotes expand a bit further on the previousInsight. They are a reminder of the importance of monitoring what I allow to penetrate my mind and thoughts. The words call my attention to my belief system, morals and values. Many of these were instilled in us from infancy, and continue with us as adults. Even if we have adjusted our thinking here and there, it is likely that the foundation laid for us, still plays a major role in our decision-making today. It could be that we pattern our lives exactly as we were raised, have taken a few ideas and adjusted others, or we may have chosen to do a 360 degree change and implement the exact opposite of everything we were ever taught. Regardless, our actions have been founded in the teachings we received growing up.
The circumstances under which I grew up and was raised were not chosen by me any more than they were for anyone else in this world. It is not until we reach an age where we can think for ourselves, make our own decisions, and choose to do so, that we take control of our circumstances. Growing up, my parents were very particular about me and my siblings' associations. They also closely monitored our entertainment and the amount and types of it to which we had access. They made certain that we had a specific amount of spiritual guidance in our daily lives, in an effort of balancing out, or negating, any of the possible bad influences we may have encountered when out of their sight. Although I may not necessarily completely agree with the tremendous limitations, control, and isolation from others, I do understand why, and respect their efforts to mold and protect us. They desired to control our thoughts, by controlling what we were allowed to view, hear, and experience. However, this can only be temporary. Eventually c
