The articles assembled here analyze their evolution, the relationship between text and images, characteristics typical of the genre, gender-specific issues, the cross-cultural relevance of this reading matter, and the role of calendars in the popularization of Enlightenment thinking in Germany, France, Switzerland, and the United States.
