George Kuchar (1942-2011) was one of the most important directors of American underground film. Weather Diaries is a key work from his extensive oeuvre. Ulrich Ziemons' study is the first comprehensive German language portrayal of Kuchar's documentation of his unorthodox tornado hunting in the midwestern United States. In addition to an analysis of the videos with special consideration forKuchar's Hollywood-trained cinematic depiction of nature and his representation of sublime weather phenomena, the volume contains an extensive interview with the artist, one of the last which he gave before his death.
