There is no immutable set of guidelines for social media marketing; in order to understand the trend, it is clearly important for each reader to be able to differentiate the definitions of social media and social media marketing.

Social Media is part of Web 2.0; it involves the process of online publishing and the application of communication tools sites for online conversation, engagement, and participation.

Social media marketing is another form of marketing, but one that uses Web 2.0 technology as its platform for direct or indirect marketing to build product and brand awareness, recognition, and business. Personal power marketing uses tools of the social web, such as social Networking, blogging, micro-blogging, social bookmarking and content sharing, which further facilitate online relationships and information sharing

Why the Time Is Now?

Many websites are now at the top of their game. They have plenty of features and alluring graphics, which entice customers and viewers of the web. Those who have just joined web marketing or launched their own websites may think that they are considered an‘old hat’ and that those practices are falling far and far behind. However, that is not true! Newbies can easily catch up if they put the right tool to the right use.

We all know that people enjoy being able to interact on websites in more ways than one. With the technology currently available, the possibilities of creating such a site are only limited by your imagination.

All users of the web want to find answers easily, be entertained, and be efficient. Therefore, they expect websites to be interactive and user friendly. They should allow users to post queries whenever needed; they should provide helpdesks and relevant information about products and services. Sites that fail to provide such services quickly lose their attraction and do not deserve a second glance from the customers.

An average visitor of a website only stays for about 30 seconds at most. Therefore, successful websites must be able to grasp and hold their attention.

But how do you do this?

The internet is basically a platform for information, which customers and browsers go to to find what they want. So, providing relevant information that is straight to the point is necessary in gaining the viewer’s attention. Do not beat about the bush before telling your customers what they want. They do not have the time to wait for answers. In order for you to sustain their attention, you should try including a forum for the customers to discuss; or even open a platform for feedback. Allowing customers to give feedback shows that you do treat them seriously. It does not just stop there. You should also act upon the feedbacks; otherwise, the feedbacks and forums will not be essentially pointless.
